kara

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay a while, leaving footprints in our hearts, and we are never, ever the same."

This quote is cross-stitched and framed in my home's downstairs living room. Paula brought it with her when she moved in with us. I've found it to be one of the most honest combination of words. My friends are, next to my family and my Father in Heaven, the most important people to me. They've helped me grow, they've made me laugh, and they've been there in times of struggle and need. That's why I find it important to show to you all some of my most favorite people. Everyday for the next little while I will have a new post about some people who've definitely left their footprint in my heart.

This is Kara. Kara is beautiful. Next to being beautiful, she's also one of the most talented people I know. We became good friends my Junior year, her Senior. She was the lead in the play at school, All Shook Up, and that is when I knew I had to be friends with this girl. She has an INCREDIBLE voice and is a great dancer. Kara is also one of the most caring people I know. She's always looking out for others, sure that they are comfortable and well. I love my Chara Nigole Jokerface!

la familia

My family is the most important thing to me. They are the 6 most important people in my life and, as cliche as it sounds, I don't know where I would be without them.

It starts with my papa. This is Jim (more popularly known to my friends as Jimbo.) He's the funniest, smartest, coolest, most friendly person I know. And no, that's not bias at all. {smiley face} Really though, my dad is amazing and without him around, who knows what I would become? I definitely wouldn't be in the right classes, that's for sure.

My mother is not with our mortal family. Her name is Shannon and she passed away in October of 2004. Yes, I miss her dearly and I think of her often. But that's the great thing about our religion! I get to see her again! Three cheers for the Plan of Salvation!

Now, Paula is my stepmother and not a wicked one by any means. She married my dad in December of 2008 when I was a Sophomore. She is one of the most well tempered people I know. So kind, so giving, and so helpful, Paula is certainly the best stepmom ever.

Next comes Josh. He is my older and only brother. He's currently serving a mission in Chile, but comes home in 7 months. {can't wait} Josh is my best bud. When people congratulate me for writing him on a weekly basis, I just smile and say "thanks," but inside I'm like, "Well duh I'm going to write him every week. We're just that close." We've had our fair share of fights, punches, bruises, and scrapes, but I guess that's just what got us to where we are today.

On to the baby - Paige. Paige is my youngest sister of my mother's children. She's almost 16 now and it's freakin' me out. Josh isn't around to fight off all the guys, so that's my job for right now. Paige is my best friend. We fight a lot, but I think it's our way of showing each other that we love the other. Paige is passing me up on the pretty scale (although I'd never say that to her face {smiley face}.) I love my baby sister dearly and she's helped me get through a lot of tough stuff.

Last, but certainly not least, is Emma. She's the baby in the house, literally, and she won't let you forget it. She's my half sister, born to my dad and Paula in 2010, but it just feels like she's my real, full-blooded sister. Emma likes smiling, and having people hold her. (Don't put her down, or she'll have a fit.) I guess you could say that she's sorta cute. {smiley face}

So, that's my family. I know we look cool on paper... (or computer screen, I guess), but you should meet us in real life... we're the bee's knees. In the words of my Aunt Janet, WE MAY NOT HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER, BUT TOGETHER WE HAVE IT ALL.

{in the beginning}

I don't know how to do this whole blogging thing, but I've heard it's fun and apparently people read them. Sooooo, here it goes!

This blog is entitled All Things Hailey and that is exactly what it is. My goal here is to make an electronic journal of all things that happen to me, inspire me, make me think, influence me, or just about anything else.

The picture to the left just about sums it up. Yep, that's me. Sophisticated, cool, awesome, and a bit weird. Don't judge. Just smile and say to yourself, Oh Hailey, what ever will we do with you?
